  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

i was talking to a lady and she buys her buns medication online and vet signs it or something. wounded cause iv got big family could i buy their myxi vhd online?
any one heard of this?

Some sites allow you to buy your prescriptions online, but you have to have a prescription from your vet

I have never heard of people being able to buy vaccine online although some vets will allow owners of large numbers of rabbits or rescues to self-vaccinate after training and will prescribe the vaccines and needles/syringes.

oh i might ring my vet ask she what she thinks, oh i just feel cheeky cause they wont be getting much money, but i pay around £350 including boosters a year just thought be cheaper for me anyone else does this them self?

For medication you can get a prescription for your vet then buy online or from a pharmacy. I think for vaccs you have to be trained.

VhD is nasty too, you can loose fingers if you accidentally inject yourself and if your not a vet you won't have insurance.
