  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Question about Caramel's snuffly nose?

Right so she was diagnosed with nodular myxi last week... one scab and a snuffly nose. So She has been on Baytril and is supposed to have albas oil stems, which she won't have. The snuffles aren't getting any better. They are nasal only however she kinda whistles a bit when she breaths.... back to vets either later today or tomorrow but anyone got any suggestions?

Maybe ask if she could fo onto Ceporex anti-biotics instead? My vet uses it in more stubborn cases of snuffles though if the baytril is also for the myxi its posible she might still need both.....what Baytril doseage is she on?

Thats quite a strong dose so your vet may consider trying a more effective antibiotic if itsnot doing the trick.

She is eating and drinking and bright... she is never very active, she is the ultimate laz rabbit... but I am worried that she isn't getting enough pxygen cos she is snuffly

Im sure someone said somethign about administering steamed olbas oil....I think it was adding some to a hot basin of water in the bathroom and shutting the door then popping bunny in there for 5 minutes to inhale some of the fumes as it evapourated.

I will try that cos she won't go in the carrier... when she goes to the vets I carry her in my arms,... she won't sit under a towel with me, she won't have her meds so I have to hide them in things... she is a very feisty lady
