How long to wait after neutering before putting buns together?

Hello! I've just got a new bunny!:D He's six months old and I had him neuetered yesterday. Three 'professionals' I have spoken to have given me differing advice as to how long I need to wait before putting him with my (unspayed) female bun. One said one week, one said two weeks and one has said four weeks, before the chances of baby buns are nil! At the moment they are getting on very well... but with the safety of wire netting between them. I'd appreciate any advice as to how long after neutering males bunnies can definitely not become Daddies! I so want to put them together soon, but really don't want to take any chances.

Thanks!

My vets say 4 weeks, a lot of people on here say 6 weeks but there are reported cases of bunnies getting pregnant 8 weeks after the male was neutered.

Certainly do NOT leave it less than 4 weeks.....I have never heard that recommended before.

is the wire netting apart? They can get pregnant though wire netting if it's close enough. 8-9 weeks should be long enough.

Thanks for advice!

Thanks for replying everyone, I will definitely give it at least 4 weeks, and then maybe give them some time together under very strict supervision for a couple of weeks until finally putting them together. Have I got this right then, they CAN get pregnant through wire netting?? Eeek!! My male bunny is in a run, which has pretty close weave wire, and my lady bunny is outside the run (in an enclosed area).... blimey, I hope they've not been up to anything whilst my back has been turned?!

There have been a couple of people who had thought that this happened to them, one of them discovered that the dates conincided with them letting their rabbits together in a run under strict supervision, the other admitted later than their buns had been put together intentionally.

Keeping rabbits side by side is not a good idea if one is not infertile as rabbits have been known to jump heights when they wish to. If rabbits can jump in to a run, they can also jump back out and not leave any 'clues' to what has been going on whilst their owners were away. Anyone wanting to keep rabbits side by side should have them in covered accomodation to prevent injuries tio each other.

I'd play safe and give it 6 weeks.

If there's any way the boy bun can get to the girl he will, I'd only let them see each other through a hutch or dog crate until he's totally safe.
