Best size for dog crate??

Whats the best size for a dog crate??

I'm currently looking at it to use 3 guinea pigs in
 
I don't think they're ideal for piggies just from a mess point of view - my trio of girl pigs are in a 2x5 hutch on long legs, lined with fablon so it's easy-clean :)
 
I think you might find they'd be able to escape- when I fostered the baby rexes they could get out - and they were already bigger than a pig.
