The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Worming and fleaing queries

Hi,

I've got two worming questions and one about fleaing:

~ At what age can rabbits be wormed? (a brief google and looking on the panacur website didn't mention age restrictions)

~ Which is 'better', liquid or paste?

~ For how long does Advantage give protection against fleas? The packet says one dose covers for a week, but surely that can't be right, can it?!

Thanks! :D

I've just had a look on the leaflet that came in my box of panacur and it doesn't specify an age, just to give 1 graduation of the syringe per 2.5kg of bunny. So you would have to work the dose out according to what your bunny weighs. My vet gave me the paste it comes in a prefilled syringe .

Just ask your vet for advice.

I can't help with your question about Advantage though sorry.

I'm sure someone else might know?

Nicola

I would get the paste for a single bunny. We use the liquid due to the sheer amount we use but they really destest the flavour!

According to the packaging Advantage is supposed to be re-applied every week on rabbits, but my vet said to do it every 6 weeks or so.

If you have outdoor cats bringing in fleas regularly, you might need to treat more often. I'm not sure.

Ok thanks. The only pets we have a two dogs (obviously wormed and fleaed) and the two house bunnies. No cats, and I'm guessing the rabbits here are in a low risk category for fleas anyway.

I'll get the paste for worming then, but I'll ask the vet about age.

Thanks everyone :D
