Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Hi
She just did a cactropes poo but she was in her carrier so I moved her into the hutch and moved the poo with her. She ate some of it when she was in the carrier but I put the rest in their hutch. Was this the right idea to do?

You'll find out later ;) They do the poopy eating stuff around midday and midnight, so just keep them quiet and settled around those times and you should be OK.

I would bin it because it might attract flies. Don't worry about cecals unless she produces uneaten ones. Its probably just a one-off. :)

when I put them into their run for about 4 hours today, they don't go to the toilet the whole time, so when they get into their carrier, they poo and wee everywhere. I don't want to use their normal litter tray on the grass because it may bring back insects and stuff into the hutch. What shall I do?

well I have lots of litter trays - here there and everywhere :) They only cost £1 so get a couple for the run and a couple for the hutch :)

thanks. I'll try that tomorrow, see if they take to it then. and I don't think she's eaten her cacetropes poo that I gave her either. They produce about two a day(one each, I guessing!) that they leave uneaten, but I do see them chewing and eating them throughout the day, so I guess they are getting enough cacetropes and producing too much. They have half a bowl of pellets in the morning and half a bowl in the afternoon. Eat them within the hour. Have unlimited hay supply and about 1 veg a day.
