Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Quick VHD vacc question

4 of mine had this today and I saw the bottle that the vet drew it up from and it said LAPINJECT but when I got my invoice at the desk it says CYLAP.

I'm confused because I gather that these are 2 different manufactered vaccines?

I'll ask when I'm there again in 2 weeks, but I just wondered if anyone could shed any light?

Thanks,

Nicola

Lapinject is a relatively new brand name of VHD vaccine marketed by CEVA. I would imagine if you had 4 bunnies done it would be more cost effective (for the vet practice  ) as it comes in a 5 dose bottle which I believe is actually cheaper to buy than a single dose of Cylap! Definately worth mentioning next time I think - I suppose they charged you the same? :? I think they should of at least put the correct vaccine name on your invoice.

BTW, I have started using the Lapinject for my buns and foster buns. Apart from being cheaper, you also only administer 0.5ml instead of 1ml, babies can be vaccinated from 5 weeks and the onset of immunity is only 6 days as opposed to 21 days with the Cylap. :D

Thanks, I was just so confused after seeing the bottle and then having a different name on the invoice:?

The invoice was really confusing aswell because I got various discounts because of it being their second vaccine, and because there were 4 bunnies they do a 10% discount. So I'm not entirely sure how much I paid per vaccine
