  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Does anyone know of any excellent rabbit vets in this area please? I need a second opinion on my rabbit.
Thanks

Hi Everyone,
Thanks. I could get to Twickenham. Only problem is that it would take me about one hour and I am not sure he will cope with the stress of the extended journey too well. He's really hates it when he has to travel and he grinds his teeth more.

So far I can't find a local one.... only the one I called and they said they are good with rabbits .... do I trust them?

Click here - the list gives details of what each vet specialises in.

The vet Jane and I would recommend in not on this list, however there are vets I would say to avoid at all costs which are on it.

Please remember that this is a vet list from the Royal College of Vetinary Surgeons rather than a list that people who use the practice would recomend. This is also a recomendation for a surgery as a whole, rather than each person who works there, which does make a considerable difference.

I have moved my Vet from the local village one to the ones recommended on the Greenfields website and without wanting to sound too dramaitc, it probably saved Tottis life.
He was in for not eating etc. and they noted he had lost 1/5 of his body weight. They kept him in for observation then let him out (with no treatment) 'cos he had eaten *drum roll* one dandelion leaf
Registered with new Vets and he needed failry intensive treatment for 3 days.

Just stick classic fm on in the car and the buns should be OK... a stressed bun is still preferable to a dead one

Okay, closer to you is Runnymede Hill Veterinary hospital in Egham. They are fantastic there and have done so much for me and my animals! :D

Wow that's where we go! They have been pretty good actually - I wouldn't say they specialise in buns in particular but there have been a couple of vets there who have been very proactive in trying treatments for my buns. The only things I can say against them - and this is just down to their experience i think - is that they didn't think it was necessary for an EC bun to have a full months treatment with Panacur (i did it anyway :D ). But then not a lot of places think that either as it's quite a new thing and not even proven (i think!).
They are lovely with my buns though. There is a scottish man (poss Oliver?) and he is very good and nice :) They are very reasonable too, price wise, in my experience.

Did you live in Egham before you moved Amethyst? I live near the Pooley Green end.
