Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Update On Peter- Advice needed

Young Bun
Hi Everyone,

Peter is looking much better today- I am still giving him pain relief as he does grind his teeth a little but he is eating and pooing and looking a little more like himself. I notice that the poo smells very strong? Is that normal? It's not round neat balls yet but I am hoping this will improve the more fibre he eats. I let him run around the garden this morning which he enjoyed but he does seem tired and needs to take rests on a regular basis.

Can I stop worrying and start sleeping and eating myself soon?! Is this the normal road to recovery?

Thanks
Catherine and Peter

I forgot to mention- he is recovering from GI Statis for those of you who did not read my previous tread.
Thanks
Catherine

Smelly poo is quite common with my lot when they've had GI Stasis, I think it's because all the built up poo and toxins are coming out.

ok thanks. He seems really lethargic still. I am still giving him pain killer because he grinds his teeth and is not his usual 'perky' self. I guess he must be feeling really tired and lacking in energy and may take time to recover fully?

I have never experienced this before so any information from any more experienced people would be great.
Thanks
Catherine
