  • Please Note - Medical Advice

Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

We are very grateful to members who take time to answer other members questions, but please do be clear in your replies that you are sharing personal experience and not giving instructions on what must be done.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

im moving to Bishop Stortford/Herts. Need a vet

can anyone recommend a good vet in the area please. I need a vet who is not just good with dogs and cats, but also rabbits gerbils rats and birds.Thankyou

Vanessa at the Woolpack vets in Buntingford is supposed to be very good - if it's the practice I'm thinking of, they have recently moved there from Reed nr Royston so if you do a search you might find both addresses but I'm pretty sure it's the same place.

Im next door to Bishops Stortford (now in Harlow) and lived there for a year but travel into South Woodford as ive not found a decent rabbit savvy vet around here yet!

Its a nice town though! :D

thankyou, i will check that vet out. i've only recently taken on the gerbils, and i know absolutely nothing about them, but they came from a very knowledgeble home so they came with a good supply of food and a large tank,so i'm on a learning curve with them :D .same with the bird, she came from the same place . the rat is belongs to husband and i dont have a lot to do wth him.Harry is fit and healthy, so touch wood wont need the vet for a while.
