Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Myxi Vac

Just a quick question to find out how much people are paying for their myxi vacs and has anyone had it done since myxi has become big news?

I had a couple in to the store and they had booked their buns in for their vacs and the myxi was going to cost £31 each!!

The vets we take our animals to charge £24 and vets for pets where my dep takes her rabbits charge her £20.

Are some vets cashing in because myxi has been featured on programmes such as GMTV. Are they playing on peoples fears for their rabbits?

About a month ago mine cost £16, it has gone up from £15.50 since January, but so has the VHD. I hope vets won't try to cash in on the recent myxi problems :(

ETA: This includes the consultation fee too and a health check :)

Mine was £16 in March, I called them to make the appt. forhis net one and it's £17. I'll enquire why when he goes, but I don't think that's unreasonable.

Dont forget that you are also paying a consultation fee aswell as for the vaccination. The Vet should give your Bun a health check before he/she gives the vaccination ;)

I can't believe how little many of you have had to pay for the myxi vacs!! I think they must be ripping people off around where I work!!

As I said, someone was quoted £31.....even with a consultation fee thrown in, this is very expensive!

I paid about £12 each about 6 weeks ago and that included a health and weight check and the vet clipped Pippa's nails for her

altho i will add.....this is a vet thats a half hour drive from me. the vet my dog goes to, which is 5 minutes, charge £20 consultation and then £20 for a vac. i would also have to pay the consultation fee x however many buns i was taking! so for my four it would be £80 consultation, and £80 for one vac and then SAME AGAIN 2 weeks lter for the VHD one.

:O:O:O:O

my vet lets me take them all in together, and its just £11...x however many buns :)
