Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Stiff joints!

Phill

Wise Old Thumper
I remember something somewhere about being able to give buns with stiff joints iol, i can't remember what kind of oil though and wether you actually can anyone any ideas?

Don't know about oil, but you could try glucosamine/chondritin combination.

Hmmmm, i know nothing about this, would it be ok going into food and also into Buns that don't really need it?
This is for one of my buns (hester) in my group of 4, she's becomming a little stiff on her back end, not arthritis at the mo but it will probably end up as that at a later stage, she's in a group of four and im looking for something im able to give to them all on there food (makes life so much easier) that wont harm them but will give increased flexibility to Hester before i have to start her on Metacam.

Thanks for the link, that's really useful.

I worry about one of my rabbits, Inky, getting arthritus in one of his feet. he broke his toe a while back and I know that broken bones often have arthritus in them when they heal.

I know someone whose dog needs glucosamine for arthritis and they use the human form as its much cheaper and easily available.....dont know if this works in rabbits.

I think its Cod liver oil thats good for joints.... again dont know if its suitable for rabbits.

We've used glucosamine at work for dogs with stiff legs (mostly ex-racing greyhounds), but it was prescribed from the vet - I guess the stuff you buy from H&B would do the same job, but not sure what dosage you'd give.
Not much help really  :)

My dog used to have Parafin Oil ( I thnk it's called) the vet recommended it.Sorry not sure about rabbits. But I don't think it could harm them
