Please keep in mind that posts on this forum are from members of the public sharing personal opinions. It is not a replacement for qualified medical advice from a veterinarian. Many illnesses share similar symptoms but require different treatments. A medical exam is necessary for an accurate diagnosis, without which appropriate treatment cannot be given.

You should always consult your vet before following any suggestions for medication or treatment you have read about. The wrong treatment could make your rabbit worse or mean your vet is unable to give the correct treatment because of drug interactions. Even non prescription drugs can do harm if given inappropriately.

Urgent Medical Advice: If you need, or think you might need, urgent medical advice you should contact a vet. If it is out of working hours phone your vet's normal number and there should be an answer phone message with instructions on what to do.

Help please, boy bits & scent gland

minty

Young Bun
Had a look at Minty's bits today, to see if his balls have dropped, I presume they have, there are two pink kidney bean shaped things either side of his winky. Is this it?

Where will I find his scent gland? I can smell it but I can't see it! I asked hubby to have a look and he thought I'd been eating garlic

Sounds like his plums are ripe for picking!

.......I mean Minty's not your hubby's....

The scent glands are sort of either side of the willy (or vulva in a Doe) Often there is a brown waxy secretion that can be seen in the crevices.

:)oops: )

Boy I am glad Jane elaborated on that one, but yes that sounds normal.
I recently had a mature male castrated (5 years old) and he really smelt  , he is feeling much better after his op and he smells better too :D

Thanks guys :D

So can you actually see the scent gland or is it more just a flat area? Sorry for all the questions.

You can see the gland, sort of through the skin, if you look closely but it is often covered by the brown waxy secretion
