Hi Folks,
Sadly we lost another rabbit to suspected coccidiosis last night. Another foster. She was fine at feeding time in the evening but I found her dead at around midnight with bloat and diah.
Its been quite a blow as we thought we were past the worst.
The coccidiosis treatment arrived today and all the rabbits here now have it in there water. Its a 7 day course. After they've completed the course we are going to randomly pick two rabbits to take fecel samples from and get them tested. If they are negative for the parasite we will treat with the Harkers again just to be safe. If there positive for the parasite the vet who did the PM on Blanche has found a sulfa based powder medication that we can put in there water and theres another drug that is given by injection we can try.
At the moment we are just going to stick with the Harkers as we are very wary about mixing medications and potentially overdosing on treatment.
Louise
